Written on cardboard, is a line from a poem of mine by the same title: "I am excess."

"My work appears to have too much,
And what can I say? I am excess.
I was brought into this world
An unintended, an accident.
My work shares the same fate as mine,
Reflecting all burdens and comforts;
These are my children—my expression.

I urge you now, my dearests, my loves—
Do not be fooled by these paintings,
As the work and I are no different.
To know them, you need only know me,
For one can only put out what one holds inside.
I am what I work on, the problem I'm solving;
It is me—the very mess you see before you. "
